Advice on running cable

Recommended Posts

I have a 5a outlet that I’d like to change into a ceiling light. To do this I need to run the cable behind battened plasterboard up the wall and vaulted ceiling.

Any suggestions on how to do this without a big long gash down the front of the wall/ceiling? Or just cut a channel and fill after?

thanks all!

If there is a space you can try rodding (6mm pvc air line works well) or a thin string with a nut or similar and pull it behind the plasterboard with a strong magnet.

How will that get past the noggins? Guess those bits will have to be cut out.

Ahh, if you have noggins up to the plasterboard then it’s much harder, thought it might just be battened leaving you a pretty clear run vertically

Yes. It would have been much easier if they had just left vertical battens!!

on a separate note, it would have also been better if they’d insulated in the void!
