Martin S Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Hi there My wife and I have moved back to our roots in West Devon with a young family to be closer to friends and family. The dream is to build an airtight house to Future Homes and Building Standard using a fabric first approach on a sensible budget. We're planning on using Nudura ICF, managing the build ourselves and looking to save where we can. This is our first self-build and we'll appreciate any help we can get!
ToughButterCup Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Welcome. Keep hold of the dream. It took us 30+ years from dream to reality. Kids, life, mess-ups got in the way. If we'd had buildhub in the early 2000s, we'd have [....] Help? - persistence . Self building tests persistence. A lot.
SteamyTea Posted May 11, 2022 Posted May 11, 2022 Welcome. There are a few foolish enough to build/have built in Devon. Have you got planning? Forget about actual certificated standards, easy enough to build to a high standard of airtightness and insulation. Just a case of thicker insulation and filling joints and holes. No magic involved.
