Hi everyone ,

I've moved into a house with a workshop in need of some tlc.

It's built out of pre-fab concrete but has some wooden panels above, to give it a sloped ceiling.

The wood has some rot in places and also some gaps where a plant from next door has poked through.

What would be the best approach to repairing and generally sealing the wooden parts? It would need to be done from inside as access to the side of the building is limited.

I'm usually ok with diy but I have no idea where to start on this one.

If water is getting to the timber then any sealer on the inside will just make it worse.

you need to stop water getting to the timber from the outside

I would pull it down, but that is me and I could rebuild it in block and bigger.

I took down a 6m long 2.7m wide brick garage at our current house and replaced it with a much bigger block garage in a better position, it wasn't even worth trying to save.

Depending on your funds and abilities it may make sense for you to pull the roof off, upgrade some of the structure and add a proper pitched roof and tile it, I looked at that option once for a Marley prefab like yours, years ago but reckoned I could do it for £500 in materials and a few weekends.

People will buy a prefab like that. Buyer dismantles and collects.
