worldwidewebs Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 I'm getting prices in at the moment for plaster-boarding/skimming the house but would like to get some prices for the board in advance to see if I'm potentially being ripped off - we need about 900m2 of the stuff. Are there 'best' places for this or is any local builders' merchant as good as anywhere? Same question applies for the sound insulation for the stud walls.
Guest Alphonsox Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 We've just been going through this process and have been ringing around the builders merchants to find the best deals. There was a fair bit of variation in the quotes we got. The final price was eventually negotiated by our plasterer, who took one look at the "best price" we had got and declared it to be far too high. He phoned his contact at the builders merchant and got an extra 8% knocked off !
Crofter Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 I've been quite surprised to find that Wickes would do plasterboard and insulation cheaper than I could get it from a BM.
