Granny pad in North Devon

Hi everyone

 

I'm a ;ong time lurker on here, and very grateful for all the useful information I have got from this site so far.

I'm about half way through a conversion for an elderly relative to live in, and I thought I'd introduce myself.

 

The project is this:

 

Small scale - 2 storeys (just), 43 sq m footprint each floor. Brick single skin outbuilding in the bottom of the garden, thought to be about 100 years old though no on one in the village is quite sure. Asbestos tiled roof. New slab (raft foundation), internal block skin, existing apertures only, slate roof.

 

I have two guys doing the structural "bare shell" for me, and I will be finishing it off myself with the wife. All in all, pretty lightweight compared to some of the very impressive projects I have seen on here. I am learning at an exponential rate and enjoying just about every aspect of the build apart from the ruthless efficiency with which it is emptying my wallet.

Welcome to THE build forum. Lots of pictures and drawings reqd (we are a nosy bunch). Don’t forget there is no such thing as a stupid question, stupid is not asking ?‍♂️

I'm sure you'll take into consideration level access and less able requirements, for your relative, in the build to ensure your help lasts as a long time.
