RSP
Hi to all I have a new build house, which took me 4 years to project manage(!!), and along the way I had to take some short cuts to save money by hiring relatively inexperienced tradesmen who I could afford. The person who installed the electric gates tried his best and did install gates that worked but not very well and were always giving problems. I now want to try to replace the electric gates myself as a project so I've been spending time looking closely at the set up: 1. Beninca Brainy 230V control unit. This has a power cable from the house and also Cat5 cables from the house. 2. Beninca swing gate arms connected to the Brainy controller. The arms can also be controlled open and close with a hand held key fob (battery operated). 3. A Leelen Video Gate Control unit on the gate post with a keypad. One keypad code opens the gate. Another code releases a lock on the side door located next to the car gate entry. This Leelen Gate Control Unit is connected with Cat5 cable wires. 4. Inside the house is a Leelen Screen connected to Cat5 cables and shows a video of the person at the gate who presses the call button and allows the person inside the house to press a button to open/close the gates. If anyone has done a similar project, I'd be glad to get your advice. Many thanks Rami
nod
I installed our electric gates Lots of places out there that make and fit gates But don’t do the motors I contacted an electrician friend with 40 plus years experience He advised me on the armoires cable and power to the post But electric motors No chance Not his bag I contacted Gates Gates for the motors Absolutely brilliant advise Cat 6 cable Everything plug and play and numbered Make sure the motor boxes are concreted in at the same height and inline Wiring the unit I was easy But I did mess about with the adjustments for about two weeks as I did have a fault The gates would sometimes shut and reopen Quick call to gates They told me the next time it happened Open up the box give them a call and tell them the error code Ten minutes all sorted If you take your time it’s one of those jobs that’s quite easy to get right
Mr Punter
A friend of mine does access control including automatic gates. He likes to use FAAC gear for the gates and Videx for the intercoms. There is a lot to go wrong and a lot of rubbish out there and he does not want callbacks.
