June 2, 20215 yr Hi All, Does anyone have any advice on the trustatrader site/reviews? are they reliable and impartial? I know checkatrade isn't so wondered how this site faired in comparison. Thanks!
June 2, 20215 yr In my experience pot luck A builder who looked into checkatrade said it was a joke . my advice - simply get a recommendation from someone you know for a trade you need . I’ve done this a few times now and though sometimes less than perfect it’s usually pretty good workmanship

I'm not having much luck with getting recommendations from friends (as they never seem to need tradespeople over the years). I have been recommended tradesmen by some tradespeople who have come in to quote themselves, but then they are the ones that have just disappeared into thin air. So now I am apprehensive about calling any people recommended by other tradespeople. They seem to be a complete waste of time.

I booked my plasterer 3 months ago ! I’m reluctant to just use anyone so am chasing up a recommendation.

I’m reluctant to just use anyone so am chasing up a recommendation. I know right! the decorator disappeared on us after having waited 3 months for him. The bath fitter also after waiting nearly 5 months. I know they are getting the pick of the bunch but it is down right annoying, they should just say they don't want the job. My plasterer never returned my messages and finally responded but would have to wait 5 months for him to show - leaving us in a pickle if we decided to wait and he no-showed also!
