Diablo
All, I own a large detached property that is being run as a HMO. The property has an integral garage that I want to convert into a home office/yoga area that the tenants can use, especially during lockdowns. The garage currently has a roller shutter, but I would like to replace this with a door and a window. This would result in two doors on the front of the house. Can this be done under PD? Many thanks, Rog
DevilDamo
Irrespective of the new front door/window, the conversion itself may require Planning if your PD rights have been removed or there are existing conditions that prevent the change of use. Your LPA are really the ones who could confirm the PD situation. See what advice they can provide in the first instance.
Temp
+1 Normally you don't need PP to add windows or doors but there are exceptions. Building Control Approval will almost certainly be required.. https://www.planningportal.co.uk/info/200130/common_projects/25/garage_conversion/2 In some cases you have to put a proper foundation under where you brick up the garage door. You can't necessarily just build off the garage floor slab. Edited February 3, 2021 by Temp
