Building control sign off - can we reclaim VAT before?

Hi,

 

Is it a condition of the the VAT claim that the house needs to be signed off by building control?

 

I was talking to someone this week who said they did their claim without the sign off, but I'm not sure if I believe him.

 

I'd rather we could claim before/if/when getting signoff.

There is other evidence you can use (it’s noted in the claim form). Has to be within 3 months of the document you use as evidence however.
