Hi has anybody had success laying Indian stone in winter? I no its not a good time to start but I'm doing all my garden up first timer and thinking of laying Indian stone in December time when I get to that stage many thanks

No issues with laying any patio in winter, but just add frost proofer to any mortar or bedding to be sure. 
 

Also worth sealing Indian sandstone before laying it to stop mortar marks.

Depends on your current ground but 150mm is about right as you need to get to a solid base, lay two layers of MOT1 and compact it well and then your bed of semi dry mix to bed the tiles on.

100mm should suffice unless ground is clay in which case sometimes 300mm is not sufficient. Sandstone should only be sealed after remaining dry for 72 hours or you'll seal in moisture. 

 

Laid many patios in winter. Never again.
