Bonding Coat Cracking

Hi need some help. I am bonding up electrical chases in plasterwork. Where it has been taken back to brick in the chase and cables have been laid. I just about managed to get a bag and started putting it on yesterday.

i made it to a ‘soft mush’ kind of consistency, brushed out and wet down the chases and spread it inside pushing it against the two sides and back with a scraper. Then sprayed water on it and smoothed it. But as it’s drying it seems to be pulling away from the sides and today after it’s dried it seems to have lost suction on the back wall in some parts so where I press it, it moves.

Today i I tried to put an even thinner layer on and then will put a second but it has done the same.

anyone have some tips of what I should do differently?

Cut the edges back before it’s sets

and skim it in once solid

It’s quite normal for bonding to crack on dry surfaces

The skim  Coat will be Fine as long as you dont let it dry out

Best same day as the backing
