mortar has bits of stone in it

Hi, the mortar in my house ( maybe 1930s ?) has large chunks of something like stone, or coal ? in it, is this a problem ?

It's lasted 90 years think it will be okay

Should be easy enough (but a bit tedious) to rake out and re-point with a mortar gun.
