Arnold9801
We’ve just started our new build today with the digger man starting on the groundwork. The new build is in our neighbouring field and the current Calor supply to our current house runs right across the new build plot. We need to abandon this current supply as that will be diverted for the new build. We still have the red propane bottles that we used prior to Calor putting their green tank in the field and will go back to using this as our gas supply for our existing house. The old copper pipe work is still under ground, but could someone please advise us if we need to run a new supply from the propane bottle sight to our existing house and does it have to be in yellow alkathene? I guess it has to be done by an approved engineer as well? Just to say that we will only use the Propane bottles for our gas cooking ring. We use oil for central heating and live on an isolated small holding. Your advice would be appreciated. Arnold9801.
MikeSharp01
Yes it has to be in plastic - Calor have a specification for the pipework and all the fittings - they tell you how much to leave at each end for connection by an approved installer at the house end (the final regulator) and at the tank end where they connect to and push it through a protective pipe up to the tank itself - they don't like joins. We had to do this when we moved our tank here at millstone manor and ran the pipework around the extension.
Arnold9801
Many Thanks Mike for your reply. Youve answered my query re plastic over copper pipe. Is there any ruling regarding how close or how far the bottles have to be from the house? Arnold9801
