Dragon's Den? - Too late to get excited.

Featured Replies

By now, I'm sure you'll all be familiar with Edge the Excitable Dragon, star of this year's John Lewis Christmas adverts. But how many would have recognised it as an massive opportunity to double, triple or even quadruple your money?

Well it seems like it is (or, more accurately, was). JL deemed fit to commission and sell a cuddly toy of 'Edgar', at a retail price of £15 each. No doubt they made a tidy profit, and sold out so quickly that I bet they wish they'd made more.

However, a number of enterprising individuals are glad they didn't as they are now changing hands on eBay at up to £75 each!

For example, this (now ended) listing https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Excitable-Edgar-The-Dragon-Soft-Toy-Christmas-John-Lewis-Advert-last-few/123994411533?hash=item1cdea4920d:g:kfEAAOSwnxxd2r8H

shows one such 'entrepreneur' has sold 156 @ £69 each - a profit of over £8k. Okay, it wouldn't build a house, but you could build a decent den for that money, whether or not for dragons.

Ps. How did I come upon this missed investment opportunity? Quite simply, I was too late to buy one from JL for my granddaughter's Xmas stocking, so looked on eBay. Suffice to say she won't be getting one ☹️

Ah what a shame

Its surprising how people will make money

I remember two Brothers turning up at the England V Australia cricket With 500 Tiny squares of sand paper Selling for a £1 each to wave at the Ausi ballers who had been caught cheating the previous year Rouging the ball with sand paper
