  1. Last year, I had has an electricity kiosk installed by UKPN on site for a TBS (see below). Now I need to "turn it on" so I can use it for things like an electric chipper for learning the site. What do I need to do? 1) get a electricity company to install a meter in the box? 2) sign up for a tariff? 3) get an electrician in to connect up some outdoor sockets? Is that right? By the way, I am going to keep the meter cabinet here when the house is finished, not move it inside. Its located in plain site just next as you come through the main gate so, at the end of the build, I am thinking to replace this cheap meter cabinet with something nicer to look at, perhaps made of brick or perhaps one of this nice green posh-looking meter cabinets. I am also going to have an EV charging point here too for an electric car, exactly where this is positioned. (p.s. vandals knocked the door off; so I have taped it back on with parcel tape.)
  2. Good morning all. I've built a little shack at the bottom of the plot that is going to house a WC and sink plumbed into the existing foul drain. I plan on putting a 3kW Triton electric handwash heater and a light in the WC. The temporary WC is 30+ meters from my Temporary Building Supply and to route any cable from the TBS to the WC would necessarily cross the access to the plot. What is the best way of doing this, temporarily?
  3. I've just got off the phone to a very helpful chap at Scottish and Southern who was helping me through the service alteration process. When it came to the temporary building supply he said they would need "information regarding construction equipment used for the TBS - total expected kW". He couldn't see my blank look, so I made it clear to him that I was indeed looking blank. I told him that I had no idea, and asked what he thought, he said they weren't permitted to make any assumptions so it looks like it's down to me to make the assumption, however, I'm still looking blank. Can anyone help me with this? We're planning on a timber frame build on an raft foundation so I don't foresee any electric cement mixers. There's bound to be a kettle a radio and probably a handful of power tools either plugged in (or having their batteries recharged) and perhaps a heater. Can someone give me a sensible figure I can fire back at SSEN or guidance on how I can come up with a sensible figure myself? Thanks. Russ.
