Ok. I tried a pipe stat on the 22mm hot water supply to the current bathroom job. Idea being it was a quick and basic means of detecting heat ( eg someone running the bath / shower / basin ) so that would bring on the large mirror demister pad. Crap hysteresis and pretty unreliable. Question.... How much additional electronics are involved to just make the cable off to a thermistor instead and have that operate a solid state relay / similar to control the demister ? Can I get a 230v thermistor to save going low voltage DC control and the associated electronics etc as this needs to be left behind for the customer and not rocket science to repair / maintain ? Thanks in advance.

Had a query for a job, and need some ideas . Bathroom ( ensuite ) with separate shower and bath, basin and WC, customers hate fans so use cross ventilation ( Windows ) when using the shower etc, don't ask. They've opted to go for a demister pad behind the large bespoke mirror and I'm wondering what's most practical to switch it on / off as required. First thought was off the lights, but with 4 lighting circuits and no guarantee which ones will be used and when, it's time to think a bit harder. Next thought is a thermistor which triggers a timer, located on the 22mm hot pipe as it enters the ensuite. Idea being that it turns on as DHW is drawn to either the bath or shower, not the basin, and stays on for say 30 mins after the pipe cools down. That's my favoured option right now, so question is, can I get a mains switching thermistor, and what would I need for a timer ? eg thermistor via a ( solid state for reliability ) relay triggering the timer / other? Thoughts plaese .

I am currently looking at options to light an internal feature mirror. The mirror is on the rear wall of our stair well and is 1.2m by 1.6m. My current thoughts are to use an LED strip/tape around the inside of the mirror cavity. The cavity will be lined with two layers of thin plasterboard then skimmed. The LED tape will be recessed to the depth of the second layer of plasterboard (effectively stuck to the first layer of plasterboard). I now need to decide on the type of LED strip to use (colour temperature, intensity etc) and whether some form of diffuser is needed. Has anyone else attempted something like this ? Any recommendations.
