Last time I bought an integrated freezer, the choice in terms of frost technology was: a normal freezer which would build up ice/frost and so require defrosting at least once a year; a clever "frost free" technology that meant you didn't have to bother with this. There now appears to be at least one more type of tech called "lowfrost". Siemens and Bosch seem to suggest that their lowfrost freezers have internal cooling elements within the cabinet sides and back which have much less ice build up. Does anybody have experience with these lowfrost integrated freezers? Are you happy with it? How often does it need defrosting?

I have some old sticky labels that came with my ex-demo fridge freezer. They have been on for a couple of years The finish is stainless steel, and I need to remove them. The initial advice from several directions has been to soften them with olive oil or baby oil then remove carefully. Is it Ok to use a razor-blade glass scraper once I have softened the labels for a week or two? I am currently using the edge of a plastic card and it will take weeks of chipping away at it. Has anyone done this and can confirm that scratches are unlikely? Cheers Ferdinand

It is not something that had occurred to me as an application, but our new freezer has come with a couple of 1200g phase change ‘Cold Storage Accumulators’, which 1 - act as protection during power cuts etc. 2 - provide a buffer when adding a quantity of food to be frozen. 3 - can be placed in contact with food for quicker freezing. A very obvious application, which had completely passed me by - possibly because our freezers tend to last more than 15 years each. Have these been a common thing for a long time?
