  1. I'm having an MBC slab and frame, then subbies thereafter. Most of the time there'll be one contractor on site at any time. To fulfil CDM (from another thread), I've made a list of forms to fill out, H&S signs to erect, as well as: plasters, fire extinguishers and eyewash stations. But I have the following questions: 1. Unless an accident happens on site, do H&S ask to see any of the actual documentation? (does it need to be submitted anywhere or just held on file) 2. As a Chartered Surveyor I am expected to know every trade and will I therefore be held to a higher standard than the expectations of a typical domestic self-builder? I am not a building surveyor, nor am I capable of building my own house myself!
  2. My property is almost water tight (roof on, windows and doors fitted) just waiting for garage to get to same state and my ****** builder has decided he wants to charge monthly for the security fencing (a very different topic) Question, when can I (legally) remove the security fencing: * once dwelling is water tight and secure? * once drive way installed? * once landscaping done? * once garden border bushes planted and garden fence in place? * once I live in the property? * once the roses are in bloom?
  3. Trying to work out which of the many signs I should be displaying. As well as the H&S at work sign, First aid point, Fire procedures, Fire assembly point, site rules are there any others? Any suggestions where to purchase from to?
  4. So all of a sudden today I became the principal contractor (as well as the client) with my name in both sections of the F10 Following on from the advice in BuildHub.org CDM F10 I've so far organized: * to get the Construction Phase plan from the old main contractor * SelfBuild insurance (from Aviva) * my partner (a ex-IT Project Manager) to help with the project management I was wondering if anyone had any top tips to share on what to do to full fill the Self Builder Principal Contractor role legally ( to satisfy H&S) without going overboard.
  5. Anyone maintaining a CDM Health & Safety file on their site? And if so what's in it? Seems weird putting system/plant instructions in a H&S file Thanks
