  1. Hi Dave you have put here exactly what i have been thinking and trying to sort out over the last couple of months, I am just about to order SIPs house and passive foundation and the only thing i cant get my head around is fitting batten and render board to outside when there are breathable insulation board that increase U value and are easier to install and the mess render system work on. I have looked at the EWIPRO system and thought it ticked all the boxes i had also liked the Baumit open therm EPS system. i know you mentioned you had some issues below so any advice would be very much appropriated. Regards Richard
  2. hoping one day the garage will be the granny or in this case grandad annex
  3. Hi Everyone i am new to buildhub I have been in the construction industry for 40 years as a carpenter and window manufacture and have done a couple of house renovations for myself but never a full house build so property sold plot purchased and i am starting my first self build SIPs house i was hoping to do a blog or a you tube type thing from start to finish as i am hoping to do as much as i can myself from designing the house and garage annex on a free app getting planning to the fitting the solar. I have built the garage using SIPs panels the garage has 3KW of solar panels and an air source heat pump with under floor heating so is very comfortable for me to live in will i build the main house. I am about to order a Passive slab foundation system (kore are my preferred company at the moment) and i will then order the SIPs panels i have a small problem to solve as the main house there is 200 sq metres of render and i would like to use an additional insulation carrier board for the render as it would seam daft to fit batten and a render board if i can improve the U value by using a breathable insulation as a carrier board system so i am hoping some one in the group has had this thought or already been there. regards Richard
