  1. Hi all quick update. We removed the baffle plate to check the chimney. No smell in the house, fire burning straight up so the problem is definitely not the chimney! Problem is with the baffle plates in. Any more advice would be appreciated.
  2. Hi Temp - we are way past the new paint smell. And it’s not smoky just smells of pure burning - as mentioned doesn’t set off any of the alarms
  3. Also it’s a Henleys Kells stove, with both primary & secondary air
  4. Hi thanks for replies. House was built in 1996, one chimney. Maybe should have said we have been using an open fire with a back boiler and this was all disconnected professionally so don’t think there’s any issue there. Impossible to identify where the smell is coming from. We are burning new dry wood (husband is a construction site supervisor so plenty of offcuts). Also have tried using smokeless coal only and smell is still there albeit not quite as bad. We have a liner fitted and chimney was swept before installation
  5. Recently fitted a multi fuel stove. Correctly installed etc by a certified fitter and had the chimney cleaned first. New burn smell was horrendous first couple of days then subsided only to be replaced by a new smell. When the stove is on the whole house smells of burning, not smokey as it doesn’t set off the carbon monoxide alarm or smoke alarms just pure burning/singeing smell. Fitter came out and did smoke test but stove seemed fine but the company in question replaced it with a new stove. Refitted, resealed all flus etc but a few days in and the smell is as bad as ever. Not just as bad when burning smokeless coal but wood is horrendous. The draw from the stove seems fine and the heat is amazing - just can’t enjoy it because of the smell! Help please!
