    Bedrock

Hi, I am having trouble removing some bedrock. the rock is in layers some comes out easily in big pieces some disintegrates into small chips and some layers are solid and very difficult and slow to remove, this is the layer I am having a problem with I am using an excavator with a breaker / pecker any advice on how I can make this easier or is it just a case of perseverance ?
  2. We are going to build an extension and full refurb of our property. Planning has been approved and our architect has provided us with plans and structural engineer calcs, so we are almost ready to go to tender. Is there a good format for a tender / specification that builders like? can anyone point me in the right direction please? cheers R
  3. Thanks for your reply. there is plenty of room for insulation, I just need someone to design the system for me
  4. We are converting our living space ( kitchen, dining, living) and adding a single story extension. As part of the refurb we will be retrofitting wet UFH to the space. Can anyone point me in the direction of a company who could design the layout for me please?
  5. Sorted, civil engineer thanks guys
  6. Thanks for your reply’s I want to lower the drive and the services so that it is easier to access. So I really want someone to tell me exactly what is possible / feasible. ive tried to take some pics but it just doesn’t capture the challenges. I will give a civil engineer a go cheers
  7. We have recently purchased a new house and are into process of planning a full renovation. There is a gravel over bedrock drive that rises quite steeply from the road. services (gas, elec, water) are laid in a trench running down the centre of the drive to the road The angle of drive has a lip that prevents some types of vehicle accessing the drive (ie lwb transits etc) as they bottom out on the lip. We would like to rationalize the drive to make access easier, but I am unsure about who to contact to advise us on what we can achieve and help us develop a plan. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
  8. Thanks, much appreciated. I will look into it.
  9. Planning haven’t specified our roof type so this isn’t a problem. even the Westmorland slate roofs I have looked at appear dirty / stained, it probably the amount of rain and associated moss and stuff.
  10. Can this be avoided using artificial slate options or by perhaps coating natural slate with some type of protection?
  11. Part of my refurb will require a Re-roof. Most of the properties in the area (Lake District) appear to be natural slate, however all of these roofs look very stained and I would like to maintain a clean uniform look. Can this be achieved with slate or any of the artificial options?
  12. I am going to be doing a similar project, could you share your Middlesbrough supplie?
