  2. HI all, I am creating new access to my croft and submitting more plans, now the access has to conform to Planning Authority legislation and i just cannot seem to find this? I have Googled, and read through a stack of legislation but to no avail. Any guidance would be helpful as i just need the legislation and a few curves on my site map. Thanks all
  3. thanks, really have to give it some thought as laying the porcelain tiles without mortar is questonable... maybe paving blocks on sand?
  4. Thnaks, i know thw idea o f laying without mortar is questionable, one of my trees i planted many years ago and teh cherries are just so juicy!
  5. Hi all i need a small area (about 20 sqm) either concreted or slabbed, The only reason i am in two minds to pour a concrete slab is tha its surounded by my trees and i am concerened that chemicals leaching will damage them. My other option is tiles and probably porcelain but agin i dont wish to lay any cocncrete and i dont mind dealing with a few popping up. Opinions? advice? thanks all

  9. Isle of Lewis. It is liftable the issue they are raising is that it's constructed on site as opposed to brought on site
  10. I am having issue with the planning department as to whether my mobile home is a mobile home. It fits all the criteria except one. It's not prefabricated as I built it. If I build my own mobile home does this comply to planning permission? Is there any info on what is deemed prefabricated?
  11. I have built a cabin in place of a static caravan. What would be the most cost effective way of cladding the exterior? I want to repurpose it for long term use. As such something quite stable. Personally I would use feather board but that's aesthetically a no no. I could render or weather board. It has an OSB exterior. I don't want to spend money as prices have really shot up and have to be careful with the main build finances . Thanks all
  12. So to update. I purchased a second hand uPVC door(all glass) from Leeds. The glass was sandwiched between two old IKEA mattresses and made it in one piece! Very happy.
  13. Good morning all, I will be transporting some used uPVC windows from Yorkshire to the isle of Lewis. I was wondering as they the beat way of transporting them. I have a shelving area that I can stack them on with the glass in and sandwiched between foam. I don't know if that's a good idea or should I remove the glass and place vertically? Thanks all and happy Sunday.
  14. Oh about 2.4 m head height 48 square meters, probably soething cheap like lino as its ust the cabin..
  15. Thanks all that's really helpful
  16. Good afternoon, I have purchased a LPG rangemaster (used). As much as I am used to attaching LPG cylinders to an appliance, I am a little uncertain as to the connection type on the end of the appliance pipe. This seems as if a simple pipe and jubilee fitting would not be secure. I am looking to get a gas engineer in but want to be clear and.moreover I am enjoying the learning process. Thanks
  17. I am giving thought to underfloor heating. Which insulation boards would be best under an electric system, the floor is plywood.
  18. havnt had anything really bad, still just a tickle from the wind
  19. yes.... but i should be gettinh hold of another charge controller and i am going to try and "double up" so i reckon blown BMS and no power!
  20. I have a pure sine wave inverter wich def was expensive, i have built my first battery based on 18650's off the top of my head i think its 350 Amp hours at 24 volts. Its just not been windy the last week on teh isle of lewsi!!!!
  21. do you have any links to those who have set them up as i couldnt find any using teh search function?
  22. i was looking at the small air to air heaters, my current systm (offgrid) is a solr wind hybrid but as a prototype i only have a max of 1.5kw output with a 10kwh battery pack. i was giving thought to 3kw widn turbine but thats just a pipe dream at the moment as its a bigger cost, install basically everything. The cabin has 3 rooms but i have never used one of teh small air to air heaters so i am a littel hesitant. Are t hey any good?
  23. thanks, i have just had teh idea and had a quick look at the methodology but thats about it.
  24. bit of a mad one. I am sat in the outer hebrides with a wind turbine and battery system that i built and surpsisingly it works really well!(accept the last few days wher we have had no wind and lots of sun. As i am getting a cabn ready for winter i have given thought to heating and with th eelectricity i have generated i was giving thoght to an AHSP. BUT.. oh what if i install one myself??? now that would be neat! has anyone given this a go?
