Been using OVO energy's cheaper 24 hour Heat Pump Plus tariff for a while, but just been told they are stopping this great tariff from Feb 2026. Other energy companies seem to offer cheaper tariffs targeted at certain times of the day, which as I understand negates a bit of the reason to have an ASHP in the winter, where I've been advised to leave it on constantly. Just wondered what tariffs people are using as don't really want to fiddle with having the ASHP not working when a tariff is higher.

Just wondered if you might be able to add some more detail about your setup, as we're in the process of trying to get broadband over 4G installed together with emulating a 'land line'. Be good to also know how you transferred existing old landline number to VOIP and what phones you now use.

It doesn't appear that Octopus are taking any new customers - a pity, as we're very well-insulated so have a low heat demand like yourself

On a previous post I asked whether using Economy 7 was worth having for running an ASHP and lots of people replied that probably not and that they were using Octopus Energy, who did have a special flexible tariff for ASHPs a while ago - I'd be interested in light of the recent increases in electricity tariff what electricity companies people are using. (not sure if this has been covered elsewhere)

Just wondered if anyone has experience of running an ASHP using the cheaper rate economy 7 tariff and whether it makes any real difference in running costs. I seem to remember that you have to pay a slightly higher day rate if you have E7, and that, coupled with the fact that the ASHP would be running at night when it might be cheaper but also colder would seem to maybe cancel any financial benefit. Also, it seems that running an ASHP 24/7 makes better sense and it's unlikely to be able to run an ASHP on normal rate during the day and E7 at night. Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on my ignorance!

Looking to have a Vaillant aroTHERM PLUS air source heat pump and uniTOWER 7kW installed in a well-insulated barn conversion for UFH and DHW. Can anyone confirm that this set up has everything required, as one quote adds a whole load of other stuff including a buffer tank, which I thought was already included in the uniTOWER.
