My lounge is roughly 14sqm and I'm looking into having my chimney lined and a log burner installed. What KW burner would be sufficient? Or is there a website I could enter details on? Also anyone have any recommendations on burner brands i dont want a really modern style as it's a late 1800's cottage

So today I have downloaded LoopCad and had a play. Best lay out is 2 circuits and it says that between the 2 I need 109.4metres of pipe at 150mm spacing. I have 200m of pipe so am wondering whether to cut the spacing to 100mm instead! See the plans for reference but please excuse the lame attempt at units with all the diagonal lines

The 200 is quantity of stands for the mesh to sit on
-
What's the second membrane for? And yeah I had read I need the stands to lift the mesh. 40/50 ones so the mesh is half way in the slab. Will 200 be enough for roughly 8/9 sheets 8x4

I was going to do it the way everyone has suggested and tie the pipe to reinforcing mesh so no tray required

Was planning on putting a few coats of sealant over it! The idea was the underfloor heating would have its own independent thermostat so run a separate heating program to the rest of the house. I have no where to install a traditional rad in the new kitchen since removing the walls hence the ufh plan.

They are the paving slabs that I have used on my patio but the boss (wife) thinks they will keep a nice cottage feel if we continue them through the Kitchen. Which I strangely agree with her on

I won't be doing the plumbing lol. I was happy doing my bathroom but with this I think I'll lay the pipe and then get my cousin to do the rest when he connects to the boiler

I deliver concrete and we only use volumetric mixers due to it being more practical for the customers 1: you only pay for what you have 2: it's freshly mixed on site for you. as for asking how it's measured. Each mix i.e c25, c30, c35 has its one set up and you adjust the gravel and sand gates to each mix setting. It is then measure via sensors on the belt that delivers the sand and gravel

So The final thing I never mentioned has my final finish isn't the normal finish like most people have tiles or wood!! It's going to be a golden fossil paving slab
-
The kit I've ordered has a 2 port manifold so I presume he meant to run half on 1 port and the other half on the second port! I just assumed each port was a zone

Cheers guys I'm going to do as you've all advised. blinding dpm 100mm eps 100mm PIR 100mm slab with pipes tied to mesh with 150mm or 100mm spaces! been told by a mate although it's 1 room I'll need to run it as 2 zones for best results as I have 200m pipe in the kit

Just out of curiosity is it building regs requirement for a 100mm slab to finish off or could I do a 50mm slab to finish. I only ask because I was told that if it's lights screed 50mm is fine. Surely concrete is stronger

Ah I don't have suspended timber floors or air bricks thankfully but do have the rest.
-
Yeah I seem to remember hitting a bit of clay

I know there's isn't any. I've already dug in a corner for a new water feed as was originally on a shared lead feed.

Strangely I'm 18 months in and only just come across this forum ?? bathroom has been moved from downstairs to upstairs giving me the option to remove a load bearing wall downstairs and make the kitchen twice the size. Also done main bedroom. Kitchen floor is coming up week begging 21st august and underfloor heating being installed! Will post some pictures when I get chance

Ok thanks. My concern about s the property is that old there is no footings? So majorly concerned about digging down to far.
-
Thanks for that. When you say sand blinding do you mean MOT topped with a layer of sand whackered? (Sorry for the dumbness) you'd think I'd know when I deliver concrete for a living ?

Hi all complete newbie so advice needed. Bought a late 1800's cottage and want to underfloor heat the kitchen! its currently a soil sub structure so the current plan was dig it out and do a new floor build up as follows 50mm liquid screed or 10mm gravel concrete 100mm celotex with ufh clipped 150mm spacing 100mm concrete base slab does that look about right? Also is it ok to use 10mm gravel concrete? My thinking on that is I work for a concrete company so can get it slightly cheaper. Unfortunately we don't do screed ?
