  1. Hello all. I am looking for recommendations for buildings insurance for our recently completed barn conversion. I have had quotes online from generic insurance companies but it is essential that it is insured correctly as it's situation is quite unique and I imagine in an insurers eyes potentially problematic should a claim ever be made. It is essentially a steel framed lean to that we have added new floor and load bearing cavity walls on all four sides. 25m long and 9m deep. The rear and one side butts up to adjacent farm buildings (still in use, one used to store fertiliser occasionally, separately insured by the farm). We had a quote from the NFU after a site visit with all the intricacies noted and the quote was around £1500 - they are a great insurer who always pay out but I found the quote a little eye-watering compared to others. Has anybody any experience of similar circumstances? Or recommendations for suitable insurers who may be willing to make a site visit? Any helpful input greatly appreciated.
  2. Thanks. Have you any product names or suppliers for me to look up please?
  3. Hello all Has anybody any suggestions for pipe lagging to suit 125mm and 100mm rigid spiral ducting. We have 20m or so running through what can best be described as a loft space that is a good bit cooler than the rest of the building. I’m aware that we may be losing some heat from these pipes both before and after it has been through the heat exchanger so want to do something to minimise it. Any suggestions gratefully received.
  4. Not forgetting space saving of course.
  5. That’s the faces of the 7x3 timbers with painted plasterboard in between.
  6. Thank you for sharing that. Most helpful. That’ll get me out of jail in our open area but not the bedroom I think. Is that taken from Part F?
  7. Thank you. It’s a new concept combining communal bathing and water saving.
  8. We are near Faringdon. How about you?
  9. Is this 50% of the floor area of the room it is in or 50% of the whole house? I am having this ‘discussion ‘ about flame spread with BCO at the moment.
  10. We used 12mm sanded then danish oiled. We’re pleased with the effect.
  11. Hello all I wish I had found this forum 4 years ago when we started our project! We are nearing completion of our barn conversion (steel framed lean to) and mvhr questions have led me here.
