  1. Advice please... I have a Calor tank where the feed pipe splits with a T joint. I need one of the two off- feed pipes terminated and was hoping there is a butt fitting that can be used to do this. Ive had had two engineers around this week to give me a quote and they were both uncertain and felt the only option was to heat weld a fitting on the one of the two pipes that needs terminating. They did mention the exact name of the heat device to do this, though I forget what it’s called. One did say there maybe an easier way of sealing the end without this electrical heating device. Could anyone advise me if me if there is a cheaper alternative to terminating the pipe and sealing it using the heat weld device as hiring it would be quite expensive. adnold9801
  2. Many Thanks Mike for your reply. Youve answered my query re plastic over copper pipe. Is there any ruling regarding how close or how far the bottles have to be from the house? Arnold9801
  3. We’ve just started our new build today with the digger man starting on the groundwork. The new build is in our neighbouring field and the current Calor supply to our current house runs right across the new build plot. We need to abandon this current supply as that will be diverted for the new build. We still have the red propane bottles that we used prior to Calor putting their green tank in the field and will go back to using this as our gas supply for our existing house. The old copper pipe work is still under ground, but could someone please advise us if we need to run a new supply from the propane bottle sight to our existing house and does it have to be in yellow alkathene? I guess it has to be done by an approved engineer as well? Just to say that we will only use the Propane bottles for our gas cooking ring. We use oil for central heating and live on an isolated small holding. Your advice would be appreciated. Arnold9801.
  4. Due to us starting our new build at our existing address in two months time, the JCB man came yesterday to assess/plan and pointed out that our existing BT line is a little to low. I will need to move it at asome point as it will be in the way of the new house anyway. However, the jcb man outlined this may need to be done as soonest. Has anyone moved their own? Or could anyone please give me an idea on cost charged by BT for doing this. In my case the line will need to be disconnected from our existing house and shared by rotating it to an existing electrical pole. It would be terminated on the pole, and then from there a new wire run back to our existing house. I believe they do share poles with other utility firms? The line for the new house would also come from this pole. Any advice would be appreciated. Arnold9801
