  1. Thanks for the info guys. There is nothing much to protect except cars (which will be locked anyway) and the odd tool which won't break the bank if I have to replace them. I agree, the damage would be more expensive anyway. And there is a side door too. Good to hear that the motors actually have some sort of "closong pressure" even with power off. Just thought there may be some extra latches that get automatically released when the motor opens the door.
  2. Hi everyone, I have a 5m fully retractable up and over garage door operated by a Chamberlain garage door opener. Because the installation required the disabling of the standard locks I am now wondering if it is secure enough. What other solutions are out there? I am thinking something along the lines of deadlocks or latches. What I want to avoid is to create extra steps like getting out of the car to unlock something before the Chamberlain does its work. Defeats the purpose really. Thanks for your ideas.
  3. That is an interesting idea to match the unit design but not all my units are 600mm. Would look nice though
  4. Hi, Has anyone installed motion sensors in their hallways? In my house these lights seem to never get switched off, and I find this a waste of energy. I have seen them working in residential properties before but was wondering which the best products are. Thanks
  5. Hi everyone, We are looking to get 600mm x 600mm gloss white tiles in our 24m² kitchen / diner. We are aware that they need to be spotlessly clean to look good. Here is my dilemma ... I really like the "Luxdust" range from Toppstiles in the color "diamond" which unfortunately has been discontinued. The reason I would prefer this particular tile over other sparkly, white tiles is that the sparkles are smaller and less chunky. Does anyone have an idea where I could get some of these tiles? Thanks
  6. Thanks for the answers, really helpful. I do like larch, but more as a tree than as cladding As I said, I am currently looking at ideas as the fence is not a high priority as it is not damaged. Would be cosmetic work really.
  7. Hi, I have purchsed a property which has these standard wooden fence panels around the whole plot. They are not damaged and will do for now but I absolutely hate them. Once I get round it I want to replace them with something nicer. I am looking for ideas or recommendations what other people have done. Personally I like Aluminium as it looks the same for a long time compared to wood which changes to this horrilbe grey color (even though George Clark always calls it "silver"). I would also like it to let light through to allow the sun to dry the area behind the fence to avoid moss whilst it should protect from people looking through. I am thinking aluminium panels in a 45° angle? Has anyone done that? Thanks for all your answers
  8. Hi, I am currently reading into different ways to build my house and came across prefabricated houses. I would not go for one of these cheap, 30k kits to erect myself. I am thinking about a turnkey house to a highish standard. One company I came across is Danwood. My questions are the following: Will it be straight forward when I come to sell again? Not that banks get funny like with constructions of the likes of Reema. How are insurance companies dealing with prefab houses? Are there big obstacles I have to overcome with that sort of house? Any advice is appreciated. There is so much information on the net and I am constantly researching. Maybe you guys can point some things out as well. Thanks
  9. I found that it is very difficult to find a mosquito net for outward opening windows that remains in place also when the window is closed. Is there such a thing?
