  1. We're about to embark on our vertical and horizontal battens to support vertical cladding and found this thread really helpful! Hoping @Thorfun might share what type of battens you purchased as we also need 50x50 (or 47x47) battens and want to make sure they are sufficiently treated. Also, did you angle the horizontal battens at all (either side to side, or creating an angle along the top of the batten to drain any water away)?
  2. 142mm SIPs + 100mm EWI = better u-value for the same wall depth versus just a 250mm SIP. In addition, we can reduce cold bridging where we have timber posts within the SIPs instead of the splines (where structurally required).
  3. We’re building with SIPs and will have 100mm EWI on the walls and 80mm insulation on the inside of the roof. For the walls, we will use Glidevale Thermo Extreme breather membrane outside, then Glidevale Protect BarrAir membrane on the inside. Currently trying to work out if we use the same membranes for the pitched roof and would welcome any thoughts or suggestions.
