  1. 1 ) B3/L1: Fire resistance/insulation from garage to habitable space (kitchen) : Is there any minimum requirements of fire/insulation (REI30/min. k/m2w) here? or will thermoblock/plasterboard be sufficient. With regards to this insulation / fire protection ... Will the BCO be expecting the insulation/fire protection to be on the "inside" of the property. i.e. to prevent the spread of a fire FROM the garage to the house. or the other way. FROM the house into the garage? If I do as planned. it would only add protection of a fire in the garage TO the house?
  2. 1 ) B3/L1: So I will need to insulate more. Rockwool suggests 120mm mineral wool to achieve 0.3W/m2K in this construction to get BCO to sign off. 3) 100mm PIR was installed. The ceiling has 100mm PIR and also 120mm rock wool: My problem is, that I dont have any photos, specifically in the vaulted section (I asked the Mrs to take pictures of this) … and now I am plastered painted/finished core cutting for me could be messy not knowing where the rafters are etc. I only need photos.
  3. Hi all, I have had recent final inspection notice from Building Control: I have 4 topics listed to resolve before April 10th. (Only 3 below, but one was windows to first floor - new windows are to be installed soon) A few Questions for the forum... 1 ) B3/L1: Fire resistance/insulation from garage to habitable space (kitchen) : Is there any minimum requirements of fire/insulation (REI30/min. k/m2w) here? or will thermoblock/plasterboard be sufficient. 2) C2 - I will send pictures of the abutment vents 3) 100mm PIR was installed. (no photos specifically to this part of the roof) Will need to remove some tiles ... Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!
  4. Interesting: The boiler has an isolation face already & the washing machine will be "built in" to kitchen cabinets. So I can always change the front to an "isolation front plate"? Would this pass regs? (I don't need/plan to have any sockets in the "shower" part any longer)
  5. I asked and there is a stud wall encapsulating the shower... They deemed this as "a second" room. At the point I had not installed ANY fans. Only I was to install ONE. This generated the conversation... "Well, you need two" Good point on the more powerful option ... I will ask next time (If not already insstalled)
  6. Hi All, BC have paid me a visit and told me I need to have two external extractor fans in my utility. (Section F) Although, I do not understand why (nor agree with it). I will install the two fans as per the guidance. However! How can I power the two from the same light switch, ceiling rose / isolator switch? I planned the first one as per the attached drawing. However can I simply add a second in the same format i.e. in parallel ... or would they need to be "in series" somehow. (Creditdiydoctor.org.uk) Any guidance would be appreciated. A
  7. I've got an old strip to play with and try this on before I wreck the new ones! Thanks for the advice
  8. I had a go at routing / fitting worktop together. (all the underside of the front edge is routed out with an aluminium channel ready for the next lot of Philips Hue Light strips. Then making a cut out for sink / taps. Not plumbed in yet, only for the pics. I need to take the work top off a few more times yet for other stuff.
  9. I spend all weekend removing the Philips Hue light strips from the protective rubber (so that they fit in my new aluminium profile/diffuser) no more warranty for me... Top section above kitchen wall units done... I now need to learn how to solder to continue the next parts.
  10. Hey! One consideration I had over looked after buying an "AEG Moon" (not built , however) for a kitchen island. BR informed me it needed to be extracted externally at min. 60 L/s - Check BR Part F - Ventilation.
  11. Apologies, I am no LED expert, however I have had "cheap" Innr (Alternative brand to Hue) before and they are just not as "responsive" / dont "seem" to work as well in my opinion. I am now brought into the Philips Hue ecosystem everywhere in my house ... so was an obvious choice for me when choosing the kitchen. Also, one of the Philips Hue light strips failed after some time (5 years?) Philips replaced without question next day delivery.
  12. I have just purchased 4x Philips Hue Light Strips (with free 1M extension) Giving effectively 12M of lighting for £320. (for those who have used Philips Hue they will know how good they are also has integration with Alexa) Also (not necassary) but brought black aluminium profiles/channels from UltraLED (£100) in Manchester to fit the Hue in. Should be router-ing the underside of the worktops to fit the channels this weekend/next weekend - I'll let you know the results 👍
  13. Hmm, yes 200 fixings might be a little overkill (or very secure) My problem is if I push the 75mm compaqfoam into the 80mm cavity I can't get a fixing and an impact driver in the gap (gap would only be ~5mm) I guess i'll have to put a batten/brackets "underneath" for the compaqfoam to sit on top of ... should give enough support 🤞
  14. Looks like the right product, thank you. I suppose I would need a very strong mechanical fixing ... somehow!?
