  1. Thanks for all the responses. I'm not sure whether my two tanks ( not including expansion vessel )are top rated tanks. The smaller ( 50L ) of the two is B rated see picture label small tank and the other larger 250L tank see picture large tank. It was installed in December 2022. The pipes are all covered and buried in 400mm loft insulation. The tanks just sit above it all on a raised platform. So it appears all is as expected and the temperature loss is normal. Any thoughts about the noise issues?
  2. Hi, I have two questions if that's ok. 1) The HW tank is set to reach 55 degrees and reheat when it drops to 45. My question being, is it normal for the heat to disappear quickly when it's not being used much? After reaching maximum temp during the early evening, I looked at the temperature in the morning and it had lost 5 degrees and we hadn't used any while we were asleep. It's currently at 50 and dropping? 2) The installed system in my EPC A rated new build has noise issues. The installers have already dropped the flow rate to 14 litres a minute ( I think ). They assured me that this wouldn't inhibit efficiency. Our issue was the noise of the pumps ( 2 CH and 1 HW ) and or the noise of flow through the pipes. Turning the flow down has allowed us to sleep at night but the two bedrooms that are back to back in our home are where the water flows up the inside of the walls to the system in the loft from the ASHP. The noise there we know will prevent anyone from sleeping as its louder than we experience on the other side of the house which has been helped by turning down the flow rate. They are looking to try and sort this out but the general consensus is that this is normal. Any thoughts, ideas or known solutions would be very welcome. Thanks
  3. The installer said it was 100mm in total I believe. It would have either have the panels sitting in the gutter and with a downpour he stated it would come over the guttering, or sit too high at the ridge and said the fixing point would be too low and should there be a day of extremely strong winds it could warp or lift the panel and not worth the risk. Small margins I know. There appears to be a lot of people selling them but hardly a review of the panels other than those selling them.
  4. Thank you all. I poured some tap water over it for a few minutes to de-ice it. Only a couple of fins are bent ever so slightly. I hope this doesn't impact on it working as it should? Thanks
  5. After reading some of the threads on this forum it seems efficiency isn't as important as a lot of panel makers push at you. A local installer was not able to use JA Solar panels on my roof as there was a error is measuring roof space. So I've gone from a quote of - JA Solar All black 395kWp to produce an estimated 4,585 kWh to Perlight PLM-295MB-54 DELTA SERIES to produce 4,328kWh. While I'm not fussed about the small drop in estimated output, I'm more concerned about the Perlight panels. The installer found that the JA Solar panels would be about 100mm too tall to get two banks on my roof ( his mis-calculation ) but I'm fine with this. We all make errors. So to get me something similar he's opted for a smaller panel. This way he can get two banks of eight on my roof to produce something similar. The efficiency is 19.57% compared to the JA panels of 20.2%. Anyone know much about Perlight panels and are the 295w variants any good or are they old spec. I notice most panels now have 60 or 72 cells whereas these have 54. Does it matter? Thanks Lee
  6. My newly installed ASHP Mitsibushi Ecodan has unfortunately been sprayed with tap water from a cracked outside tap after the current cold minus temperatures. I could hear running spraying water and looked outside to see one side of the unit covered in ice an inch thick. My question is. What should I do? Leave it to that naturally, which at the moment will take ages? Turn it off all together? Poor very slight luke warm water over the side - no electrical wires or connectors on that part? The fan isn't inhibited and is running just fine, however I think it sounds more noisy at the moment. Any advice would be very welcome. Thank you
