  1. https://buildsafe.co.uk/building-regulation-for-windows-in-bedrooms/#:~:text=Rooms on the ground floor, leads to the fire escape. Reading this now makes me feel I may have other options, but I would rather have a window in the bedroom. I could technically abolish the 3rd bedroom and either turn it to a play area for my son/ office, or completely open the space up which would make the property 2 bedrooms instead of 3, or anything else. Any ideas. I am truly lost now.
  2. I don’t know any of the neighbours so don’t know if they have similar settings. Unfortunately they are all retired people and we are the youngest little family to move in. I know from my neighbour to the other side that they don’t like spending money on their properties, as they don’t expect to see a return in value. Most if not all are still kept the way they have been built, only a bit of paint and a clear out. I am the first to apply for an extension according to the planning office.
  3. The council agreed for the window to only be the same as the other ones in the property which is why they approved our application. I won’t be changing anything till they approve it. We discussed the window in detail when I applied for it as they had concerns the neighbours weren’t happy, but they approved it as it wasn’t against the law. The neighbours said it was inconvenient but no one mentioned it to be illegal. Otherwise we would have made different plans. Now it’s too late. That’s a whole bedroom without daylight or ventilation or fire escape.
  4. Can I put Sash window instead of an out opening window instead?
  5. I am not sure I will be opening the window into their land. there is an alley between us which gives access to my left hand side wall. Legally I am required to open a window in all bedrooms for fire/escape. I also have submitted my plans to the planning office and they approved it. I have promised this window would have obscured glass so that both privacies are protected.
  6. Here it is.
  7. I have the deed. Where does it say and I will share a picture of it.
  8. All changed now. I will be constructing an external leaf with Bricks, external leaf build first on that left hand side and carrying out as usual for the rest of the extension.
  9. Not only that it’s further than a meter, they have admitted in few messages corresponding to me and confirming they will not allow me to open my window and they also said they will not remove the fence from my wall. If it’s not the court, then it’s the police. They have placed that gate without my approval so I can’t access me wall and remove their fence.
  10. I wasn’t personally there when they have full filled between rafters, I have the pictures before all was boarded. Hence why I am asking so that if it was done wrong, I will ask the person responsible to redo the full work.
  11. You haven’t missed anything. The surveyors and the BCO a planning officers all said they can’t and shouldn’t, but my neighbours feel they are above the law and that it is inconvenient for them! Which is why I am in this pickle still. I guess one way to solve it is the court.
  12. I know I am well over a meter away. Even 2, but less than 3. Otherwise planning office wouldn’t have approved the plans.
  13. My wall, my property, their fence on my wall to stop me opening my window.
  14. BCO approved this diagram so I am adjusting the section accordingly.
  15. I plan to use VCL on top of the PIR for protection. I believe a small investment here goes a long way.
  16. Thank you very much for explaining. I won’t be buying their products, I found their diagrams very useful so I wanted to share with copyrights intact.
  17. A quick question for all whilst we are at it. Do I need a VCL between the plasterboards and the Rigid PIR for the walls and existing roof insulation upgrade?
  18. They fixed it to my left hand side wall as in the picture. The garage door is being replaced with bricks and window as the garage has been converted to my son’s bedroom.
  19. The BCO has agreed to allow me to change my intended plans for the external leaf. Instead of block work and render, we will use bricks and build the neighbouring wall external leaf first and carry the rest of the work as usual, taking into consideration that nothing crosses the fence lone. I am happy to spend an extra £1000 and finish sooner rather than get stuck further and pay £1450 in rent + bills per month.
  20. They put this fence on my wall to stop me from opening my bedroom window as it is inconvenient to them!
  21. Oh No, empty for more than 2 only. I misunderstood what u wrote.
  22. Could it be that? TD-JUTA.GP4_.016-Ground-Bearing-Slab-Perimeter-Detail-Membrane-Below-Slab.pdf
  23. That’s really great news. Lots of hundreds of pounds here and there. I have kept all the receipts .
  24. Thank you. What do you see is wrong about the original design. It was suggested here and the only thing I did was increase the PIR to 150 instead of the 100. What seems to be the problem?
