  1. May I ask, did you use their Timber Aluclad or All Timber windows?
  2. @ThorfunThank you very much, I have indeed been in contact with Norrsken and have been extremely impressed so far.
  3. May I ask if you managed to get any recommendations? I am looking for the same. Thanks
  4. But what if the company says they can organise it all... to trust or not to trust?
  5. Urrrgh headache before I even finish reading. Import VAT is reclaimable though
  6. Hello all and apologies if this has been covered elsewhere, happy to be pointed in the right forum direction. So the price of the brick I want has just jumped up 10% and considering it was already ridiculously high, this is a bitter pill to swallow. Our Interior Designers are based in Lithuania and their prices for the exact same product are a fair bit cheaper. With all the Brexit rules coming into force, is it still possible to bring in a lorry full from there?
  7. That's fantastic. We seem to have similar taste. Here's a render of ours. :
  8. Siberian larch + Sioox is gorgeous if only we were going for that blonde scandi aesthetic. However we are building a MCM modern revival that belongs more to Palm Springs than rural Hampshire and need a mid/dark tropical looking wood that doesn't need re-treating every few years to keep its colour - because we'll never get around to doing it. I'm looking for internal Cedar clad ceilings.... any hints on suppliers?
  9. And that brings me on to the eye wateringly expensive stained Accoya cladding that I've chosen ?‍♀️
  10. Thank you all. I believe the inner wall is specced to be made out of solid concrete block. @Brickieyes my PM mentioned the wall ties with channel. Will need to check them. @Mr Punterthose are indeed nice. @Duddathanks for clarifying, so I suppose that is why the pricey 40mm high roman linear bricks are acceptable as they would match up (40mm x 9 levels + 80mm mortar= 440mm; matched to 215mm x 2 plus 10mm mortar = 440mm)?
  11. Morning, having originally specified circa 340 sq metres of incredibly expensive, 'handmade' linear clay bricks, still pained at the cost. Looking at alternatives and have found some pretty interesting concrete ones with similar dimensions. Have also found some splitface linear concrete bricks which look like natural stone but these are 50mm in height and architect is worried about matching the coursing levels and wall ties with the inner cavity block wall. Has anyone else dealt with non standard brick sizes and how did they overcome the problem? Thanks
  12. I've found this company Ecowin https://www.ecowin.co.uk/products/solarlux/ and I'm pretty sure that one of their managers is on this forum somewhere... I'll do some digging..
  13. Okay, good advice @Highland build, thank you. The rebuild cost thing is also confusing. Out of interest, did you state the same rebuild cost on your site insurance quote as in your warranty quote? I get making sure the site insurance/contract works is high enough to give you safe coverage, but one broker basically implied that with regards to the Structural Warranty - the banks are only really bothered by the sqm x generic price per sq m to rebuild. Not sure where to stop... do I include fixtures and fittings/ decoration/ initial landscaping with regards to the Structural Warranty? With every 100k added to the overall cost, the premium on SW seems to jump
  14. My lowest quote gave me a print out of their accepted list of lenders but when I cross checked on the UK Finance website, they were not on it. Their reply was that they were covered under the lenders handbook paragraph 6.7.4 for the provision of Professional Consultants Certificates. His implication was that this was just as acceptable to lenders however from my research this is not the case. On questioning his 'professional' was a private RICS consultant. It is a minefield. What Site Insurance company did you use may I ask?
  15. Good evening, does anyone know ballpark figures for Solarlux Winter Gardens? And any recommended UK providers to approach for a quote?
