  1. We had a electrics conditions report done a few weeks ago and were told that we need to change the wiring for four rooms. (It is a five bedroom house). The whole house was re-wired 21 years ago and we got an NIC EIC installation certificate. We have not noticed any problems with the electrics. Is this unusual? I thought wiring lasted a lot longer?
  2. Thank for your reply.
  3. Thanks very much for your replies. 1) I can't find the armadillo type flexi. Can you please send me a link. 2) what is the difference between a concertina type and armadillo type?
  4. They say they use them all the time and it is easier to connect to the toilet. Using rigid would be now more complicated, but it would have been easier before their recent tiling and if they had made the pipe from the floor go a bit higher up. I am learning that building work is a lot to do with planning and sequencing.
  5. Our plumber is proposing to use a concertina waste pipe for our new toilet, and connect it to directly to the toilet. He says that he doesn't want to a rigid pipe . I am somewhat concerned about what will be caught in the grooves of the concertina pipe. Should I be concerned?
  6. Thanks. I find it really annoying that with a tiny bit more effort, they could have done the right thing. We are happy to pay more for the right material.
  7. We had to accept it, as they walked off the job when we asked them about it and lots of work was not completed. They told us not to tell them how to do their job, and that we were talking nonsense. They thought we were overanxious. My concern is that MDF is not used for load bearing and does not last as long as the porcelain tiles on top.
  8. Why is it not OK?
  9. Our builder is adamant that MDF(18mm water proof) is OK to replace about 1 square meters of floorboards. On top of the MDF will be the 6mm of plywood, then a cushion material and then tiles. A toilet will be on top of all this. Can you advise me whether this is OK or not please.
