I want to run my new house with a biomass boiler using wood chip. I think I need a 6ton storage facility to keep bulk cost reasinable but am wondering if I need planning permission for a building that will be about 15 to 18 square metres?

Make sure it is well ventilated, there have been deaths caused by incorrectly stored pellets/chippings.

 

Before you go down the biomass route, have you looked at the alternatives.  They may be better and cheaper.
