That weir effect you described with leaks under the cupboards is exactly how slow leaks stay hidden for months, so removing it is the biggest leak prevention win in this whole job. While the floor is up I would drop a cheap battery water alarm under the washing machine and the softener. They cost a few pounds and they are the cheapest early warning you can fit.
