Just now1 min It doesn't go away because it's not resolved. I value the marmox suggestion, but as I've already mentioned - it seems the manufacturer only approves <12mm thickness for laminate, and I can't find any reports of people successfully laying laminate over it. It's a lot more expensive per sqm than XPS 300, but appears to come with similar risks and less insulation thickness. In regard to carpets, I appreciate that different people have different hygiene standards - I've once seen a house with a fitted carpet in the toilet - but I'm not considering carpet as a solution. For a couple of adults who always take the shoes off at the front door and spend half their life cleaning their city flat it might be OK. For an outdoorsy family with kids, pets, constant coming in&out of the garden carpets are a health & safety hazard from the amount of dirt that will build up in them.
