Hello, I’m in planning stages for a renovation which will require groundwork’s at the front of house and garden to lay a new 3 phase connection. Thinking at the same time I will also lay ducting runs for future works such as electric gates, lighting, external sockets. And fibre cables.

VM shows Gig1 available so this is the hybrid coax cable thing. No plans for Gig2 on their network installer website  for my area yet.

Openreach is showing Full Fibre Broadband available now with speeds upto 1600mbps.

Cityfibre showing full fibre connectivity and a search on Sky is showing 5000mbps packages to the address.

My understanding here is BT/Openreach/Cityfibre have upgraded to the street cabinet and can bring me full fibre to the property, how do I confirm this?

However I would like the VM network who currently have no plans for their cabinet to be upgraded.

The VM cabinet is directly outside the property, wall in between. If I dig a trench now from my side of the wall, what ducting do I lay and will VM offer me the cable and box now to the property so when they eventually upgrade the cabinet, I already have a clean install of the cable to the property in place?

Or is this a silly question.

Have a look at the 'Registering a Site with Openreach' thread that I've just put up.  Might find some answers there.

Note that if an existing system belongs to someone else (eg Virgin Media) my Openreach guy said they wouldn't touch it so beware of falling between two stones.
