Arrenite Posted yesterday at 11:45 Posted yesterday at 11:45 Hi folks, I have fitted new windows to my new build, and noticed that the wind whistles though the vents, even when closed. Is this normal. the window manufacturers say that the noise will settle down when the heating goes on. Not sure if this is BS. any ideas Cheers aronite
Redbeard Posted yesterday at 12:22 Posted yesterday at 12:22 Definitely sounds like it!! What 'mechanism' are they invoking to claim that interaction/result? Sounds like a possible boat-lifting/dropping device in an area of London in the Tower Hamlets area.
Arrenite Posted 22 hours ago Author Posted 22 hours ago @Redbeardwe shall see, but I suspect it’s BS. The windows are engineered word, but they said not to install until wet work has been completed on the house - screed, plastering etc. Again I am slightly mystified.
craig Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Wet work (screed) can cause the lacquer to react and it looks like the finish is compromised. It does settle back down but primarily it can cause swelling to the timber. Which is why it is better to wait until that is done. As for the vents, that’s BS. It depends on the type of vent used and which way they are facing. I would suggest that they are cheap vents.
