boxrick Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Hello folks. I have around 250mm of insulation with some water pipes underneath and UFH pipes installed on top. I've just realised I need networking / power and speaker cable to next to my sofas and kitchen island. See above pictures, do I panic cancel the screed company who are due at 9 or is there something I can do in a few hours before they arrive?
crispy_wafer Posted October 3 Posted October 3 If you are unable to fit the cabling now, fetch some 32mm ducting from somewhere and lay that, feed a drawstring so you can pull through the cable later. Lay it as straight as you can.
crispy_wafer Posted October 3 Posted October 3 (edited) Oh and take pictures/measurements of where the runs are in case you need to do any work on the floor nearby Edited October 3 by crispy_wafer 2
boxrick Posted October 3 Author Posted October 3 What would you hold it down with? I'm worried it will float. Also got potential crossing of UFH
Andehh Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Several long screws pushed deep into insulation, either side of the Ducting, then any old wire tied over the top?
Andehh Posted October 3 Posted October 3 (edited) Wickes or equiv, will do all you need.... Small drainpipe (for shed guttering etc) , and or white sanitary drain pipes would work as Ducting as well. Use duct tape to seal the joints together,to avoid any liquid seeping in. https://www.wickes.co.uk/Products/Heating+Plumbing/Plumbing/Waste-Pipes+Fittings/Solvent-Weld-Pipes+Fittings/c/1000550 They open at 8ish, so grab, go and push fit, and you'll be having a cup of coffee by the time the screeders arrive!! Andehh Posted October 3 Posted October 3 For what it's worth.... I was in the same situation when I realised my wall mounted TV in the lounge, I'd forgotten to put Ducting in to the corner for my AV Amp, sky box etc... Realised just as the Plasterboarding started in the next room. I panicked out of work, was half way to screwfix when the site foreman raided the plumbers supplies and channeled out the wall for the pipe to be installed, and saved my day! 1

boxrick Posted October 6 Author Posted October 6 Mad rush to screwfix. I got a few ducts in one location but not the other... threw them in as they were pouring the screed. Better than nothing.. 2
