Driveway resurfacing

I need to maintain a private driveway used by 7 houses with an asphalt overlay. Should we specify BS EN 13108‑4 hot rolled asphalt or BS EN 13108-1 AC10 close surface course or something else. And would 40mm thickness be right.

Never done tarmac but as usual the prep is probably the most important part.  So what do you currently have and why does it need replacing?
