Luke Walker Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Hi All, Many thanks in advance for any advice. I have recently installed new first floor joists (metal web), hung from ledgers. The company that supplied the flooring provided wrap over joist hangers fixed with twist nails. The joist hangers (2mm thick) and the nail heads (about another 2mm) are causing the 22mm T&G flooring I’m using to sit proud and subsequently sit un-level across the joists. i just wondered if anyone could advise and what might normally be the solution to this? I followed all of the joist designs perfectly, used all the provided hangers etc and am now ready to install the flooring. Is it the case that when the flooring is down, the discrepancy will be tolerable or should I look to do something now to overcome the lipping? Many thanks,
G and J Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Presumably the ledger board is the bit you are wrapping the hangers over - is that correct? Have you set them at the same height as the top of the joists? A pic would help.
Mr Punter Posted June 8 Posted June 8 Can you cut the legs off the hangers? You would need the floor designer to sign off on this.
