Bazza Posted Saturday at 15:16 Posted Saturday at 15:16 (edited) I'm looking at replacing a very old Maxmatic waste disposal unit with a sink basket strainer fitting. The Maxmatic was installed (by me) over 40 years ago and has given excellent service, but has now failed. We don't use it much now as we recycle the vast majority of food waste. So, as it has failed we thought we might as well ditch it. In fact, the only reason for getting rid of it right now is that it will likely get clogged up with bits and pieces that still get down there. So I looked around for sink basket strainers and came across some that say "Replacement waste kit for sinks manufactured AFTER September 2008". So that set me thinking about things like: What has changed? What do I need to be wary of? Can I even get a sink basket strainer to fit my old sink? Be grateful if anyone can shed any light on the matter. Cheers, Barry Man Edited Saturday at 15:17 by Bazza Typo
Nickfromwales Posted Saturday at 20:47 Posted Saturday at 20:47 I would have thought that relates to changes in legislation for commercial food hygiene perhaps, as for domestic nobody would care 2 hoots how / what you strained tbh. That's my only guess!
