Hi, I’m shopping around for flush casement windows and have received mixed opinions on the best way to finish around the external parts of windows to fill the gap between the window and brick work.

some installers prefer using a neat bead of silicone, however, some have argued that it discolours and crumbles over time. Those that have, insist on using plastic trims.

Whats the best solution here to achieve the neatest look without impacting the look of the window?

many thanks

Trims 🤬

Trims are designed for one sole reason, hide things. I detest them but sometimes a necessity, a good quality mastic man can work wonders and if need be, rather than use silicone or PU foam you can you use a good compriband and this would give a really neat finish externally.

Thanks Craig, this is helpful, I’ll look into Compriband. The challenge is finding a company who’ll use those materials/methods, they all seem to want to do it their way, which usually is the cheapest and quickest way for them. Or suppliers are using subcontractors for installation and have very little say in what installation methods those subs use.
