April 5, 20251 yr Hi guys I have a shower in my house that's constantly blocked. Looking to replace the drain cover with something like the below: https://amzn.eu/d/ebEOiR0 Looking at my drain cover it is bent and needs replaced, but it also seems the odour trap (grey area) is fixed in. Not sure that this product would work? Appreciate any advice, thought I'd ask before I try and remove it with force.
April 5, 20251 yr The shower trap usually had the outlet as part of the product, unlike a kitchen sink where the trap and the waste outlet are two separate bits of kit. If you have access then change the whole unit and use something reputable like McAlpine. Check sizes before ordering

By waste unit do you mean what this diagram refers to as 'basket'? The products on Amazon seem to come with a 'fixed base' and 'basket', which slot in to the 'fixed ring'. In my case, it looks like the 'basket' is integrated or is fixed as part of the 'fixed ring' - I don't know if any of these products would work or as you say I would be better replacing the full drain unit? I don't have much plumbing skills so was hoping I could go for a simple swap solution! Edited April 5, 20251 yr by mousecat181
April 5, 20251 yr They aren't all interchangeable, that's the problem you may face, hence me saying buy one complete unit which has both 'parts' of halves
