Hi,

I'm planning on converting the front garden to a driveway. It's too steep so I'd make a retaining wall (either doing it myself or paying).

However, to make things easy, I was thinking of preparing the ground by excavating it to a much lower level, possibly flat so it's easier to work on.  I can do this by micro digger, or ask a grabber truck to get most of the soil roadside. Then it will be easier to do footings for retaining wall.

I've attached a photo with mockup. I'd really appreciate someone experienced in this to give me some steps for preperation.

The driveway is 3.4m wide by 5.5m length, height gradient from curb to back is 0.8m, which I was going to reduce to about 0.4m

Thanks.

I’m doing ours at the moment

Ive borrowed a three ton digger

The five ton I borrowed for the footings would be much easier

Id hire a one tone at the very least a micro would struggle
