Hi, we have a traditional house built in late 80s, with wet verge.

The mortar the verge is crumbling.

We had a local roofer over and he suggested to take out mortar and undercloack board, then install a button along the verge and screw on dry verge end caps.

Is this a proper way of doing it? or should I request to have the mortar replaced?

Yes that's what I noticed. 

 

But is it complicated \ costly to do the adaptation? Anything that can go wrong?

No it’s cheap and easy
