nikbower
Hi there, My house in London is supplied by an old lead communication pipe to the outside stopcock and then lead from there into the property. Thames operations team is therefore required to replace the entire communication pipe with new FOC. They will only install 25mm pipe. There is no option to pay them to use 32mm instead. Given the number of people (and the number of bathrooms!) at the property, I would like to upgrade to 32mm communication pipe. The only way to do that is via Developer Services, who will charge over £7k to upgrade. My question - if I book in the lead replacement with operations, and have my plumbers standing by with 32mm pipes when they come to do the work, might they let us put the wider bore communication pipe in ourselves? Any thoughts / actual experience welcome. Thanks!
Conor
you can lay your own 32m pipe from your internal stop cock up to where Thames will be replacing there comms pipe to. This will then downsize to 25mm at the meter box. Better than nothing. Have they confirmed that are replacing only to the property boundary or does their scheme go to your internal stop cock?
