Which shower enclosure shape is more roomy?

Recommended Posts

After realising we had a leak from our shower enclosure, we ended up dismantling everything only to find that a botched job had been completed by the installers many years ago.

We knew we had bought a 900mm shower enclosure but did not realise that the only reason this had fitted into its corner space (behind the bathroom door) was because plasterwork had been cut away to the brick to accommodate the tray.  And the tiles had been put on after the enclosure was fitted, not underneath the enclosure "frame".  And that the enclosure adjusted down to 855mm.  The actual distance between the corner and the architrave edge is only 865mm (max).

The new shower enclosure has to be in the same location but we want it fitted properly this time.

So now we have to decide which type of enclosure gives the most usable space since it is clear a 900mm x 900mm is too large.

One option is what seems to be a unique shaped quadrant by Kudos.  An expensive curved quadrant that measures just 820mm along the walls but bulges out to 910mm at its widest.

And the other option is an offset quadrant 800mm x 900mm as produced by most brands and can be a lot more reasonably priced.

The electric shower has to be fitted on the 800mm side of the cublicle.  Perhaps a bit narrow when you raise your arms to wash your hair???There is not really enough room for a 800mm x 1000mm.

I have not been able to find a showroom that has both one of the Kudo curved quadrants and a 800mm x 900mm on display.  So would appreciate any comments from anyone who knows these types of encloures.

Many thanks
