LiamJones
I have a steal ridge beam, with timber plate bolted above ready for rafters to be birthmouthed into. Should I have a timber ridge board between opposing rafters, or just have them connect into each other? No ridge board is more thermally efficient, less cold bridge, can run insulation all the way through. Ventilation can run eave to eave over the ridge. The reasons I can see to install a ridge board, 1. Don’t need to have rafters symmetrical either side of ridge. 2. Easier to fix into when it comes to ridge tiles.
