ashthekid
I know this may not be the right forum to ask the question on but I'm looking to get some custom made to measure glass shelves made to take media equipment like dvd players, games consoles etc on and really not sure what thickness to get on the toughened glass? 660mm wide and 340mm deep. 6mm I know will not be good enough, 8mm should be adequate and take some decent weight I would have thought but at 660mm wide maybe 10mm or 12mm is best? But of course they will be heavy at that thickness - I'm told at least 6kg minimum. Any advice?
markc
660mm wide isn’t a problem and games consoles etc are quite low, distributed loads. 8mm toughened will be more than sufficient (take a look at the shelves supplied for cabinets etc.). ashthekid
Yeah most shelves I see for holding lightweight bathroom items are 4-6mm as well as shelves for holding kitchen glassware are 6mm I think.
